I'm not a high school student, but I wanted to say that I applaud what you are doing at your school to promote acceptance of GBLT students and create a dialogue between queer and straight students. Please let me know if you need any resources or help.

I thought it would be good to post, though in my opinion it's sad.

Repost this if you think homophobia is wrongCollapse )

We have yet another school year ahead of us, and hopefully things will run a lot smoother!

As of this moment, a date has not been set for the first meeting of the year. It should be set by friday afternoon, and it will be posted here as soon as it's all straightened out.

The first year of the Bangor High Gay/Straight Alliance is coming to an end, and so here's to remembering what we've accomplished.

Getting the ok for the GSA was one challenge, and finding a faculty advisor was yet another. Luckily, we got through them both.

The first few meetings had an attendance of about 40 students, which went down quite a bit, and then up a little for the yearbook photo.

Posters were made in memory of hate crime victims, and there was a meeting with a woman at Bagel Central. Though somewhat unorganized, people DID participate in the Day of Silence.

Hopefully we'll get a few more meetings done by the end of the year, and get more organized over the summer for an even MORE successful year next year.

Welcome to the LiveJournal community for the BHS Gay/Straight Alliance.

You don't have to be a student at Bangor High to join or post here, but currently you must be a student or work at Bangor High to attend meetings.

In the future, we hope to plan some meetings that will be held off school grounds.

The BHS Gay Straight Alliance meets Thursdays after school. For more information see Mrs.Thibedou {Spelling?}, or post a comment here.
